Our Physician
Dr. Wah Lee is a physician holding three American Medical Board Certifications and a certification for Acupuncture. He is a specialist in both fields of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine & Osteopathic Manipulation (OMT), and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R).
After completing a Master’s thesis research project on Osteopathic Manipulation and its efficacy on headache pain, Dr. Lee was conferred his D.O. degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. As a medical student, Dr. Lee studied acupuncture at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The Peking Union Medical College Hospital is one of the most noted medical institutions in the People’s Republic of China. Later, he completed the 300 hours of medical education credits necessary to be certified in acupuncture at Harvard Medical School. Also as a medical student, Dr. Lee had studied Native American Medicine through the Indian Health Service hospital in Crownpoint, New Mexico.
Dr. Lee’s medical internship was completed at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York (now NYU Langone Hospital). Afterwards, he completed a ACGME accredited Medical Residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Kessler campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. This training included strong didactics in pathology; and treatment of in-patients and out-patients suffering from spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, post operation sequelae from orthopedic surgical procedures, pain syndromes, and sports/activity related injuries using evidence based medicine. At the time of Dr. Lee’s graduation, the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation was ranked the number two facility for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in America and had been model systems for both spinal cord injury and stroke management. Afterwards, Dr. Lee finished an AOA accredited residency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System in Plainview, New York. This training included strong didactics in physiology; with inpatient and outpatient treatment of newborns, children, post partum women, chronic pain and ailments not responsive to traditional medical treatment using Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment.
Dr. Lee is an open-minded physician who treats patients with his unique understanding of physiology, pathology, and nontraditional methods of treatment. Each visit will begin with an evaluation. The treatment considered most appropriate for you will likely be performed during the same visit.
An alumnus of The Dalton School in New York City, he has returned to the community which raised him to provide his services.
